Weekly Tips for Your Peak Fitness and Wellness

This Week's Tip: Feel Good Living Green

We’re not just a fitness company; we’re an outdoor fitness company. We are thankful to enjoy the blue skies and fresh air on a regular basis, to connect with the earth and each other, to actively experience each season. Promoting a clean, natural environment is important to us--and it should be for you, too. Not just so we can all play on the planet for a longer time to come, or even that it’s the right thing to do. Living green has direct impact on your personal health and wellness, too. 

Take petroleum jelly, for instance. We recommended using it to protect your face in our “Dress Smart, Stay Warm” tip just months ago. But we’ve since learned that not only is petroleum a nonrenewable resource (meaning, when it’s gone, it’s gone!), but it’s also a possible human carcinogen. Yikes! How did we find out? For some time now, we’ve been getting Ideal Bite’s daily “bite-sized ideas for light green living” delivered in a “short, sassy email” (their words) (sign up at www.idealbite.com). We continue to be impressed with their timely and eco-friendly yet highly doable tips for change on issues that we didn’t know we needed to know about (but were glad we did)! Things like how compact fluorescent light bulbs save energy and money, how paraben-free makeup helps our hormones, and how natural lawn care methods keep our pets healthy. 

We think you will be surprised, too. If you’re the type who can switch to all organic foods in a heartbeat, fantastic. But if, like the rest of us, you need to pace your “greening” a bit more modestly, simply consider signing up to receive your own daily green tip. After all, education comes before action, and something is always better than nothing. Happy reading!
